Today, we have something different for you! We normally receive pet story submissions from the hooman. Imagine our surprise when we received a submission from three Mini Schnauzers! We have many questions, like how they mastered the command of the English language and how did they manage to break their grandma’s computer password! But that’s an investigation for another day.
This is a once-in-a-blue-moon event, so we decided to let the Schnauzer pups tell their story in their own words. Here is the email The OMG received…
Hello everypawdy! We’re the Wong Kopitiam clan! There are 5.5 of us in the fam of mini schnauzers and then there’s our 2-legged granny. Let us regal you with our tails, let’s go!
Kopi is the eldest and he’s our daddy, he turned 12 years young this year. He’s our granny’s favourite, the King of her heart she says, her beloved sayang she tells us. Uurrrgghh! What a bummer!
TehC is our fun mum, she’s 10 and she’s our absolute role model for all things crappy! If you see us pulling pranks, up to mischief with ‘brilliant ideas’. Yup, it’s her idea for sure. She never gets into trouble and it’s our furry butts that blooms most often – bigger than the Rafflesia!
Of course, there’s us, the wonderful pups – we self-proclaimed that title! – And no, you can’t voice your other opinion bout it. We’re turning 9 this Sept. We’ve been told that in ancient Chinese families, the eldest son gets to inherit the entire family fortune. So Ocha being the firstborn, gets everything. Yups you heard us right. He gets all the bills and loans! Good luck to him! We wish him all the best! He’s the biggest sized amongst us – yeah he drank all the milk when young! – so he’s the designated family bodyguard. He’s a quiet gentle pup, furry butt of few words.
You know how it is, in every family there’s always that annoying sibling. So then there’s rascal cheeky Cider. Don’t let his good looks fool you. He’s one heck of an annoying brother. He may look all sweet and sunshine with big smiles, deep down he’s a super prankster! Always trying to get Ocha into trouble! He must have gotten the rascal gene from mum – ssshh don’t tell anyone I said that! – Don’t get us wrong, he’s well loved cos he’s a big suck up to granny!
I’m Puer, the super adobs baby – at least that was before monyet’s arrival – in the fambam. I am my granny’s pretty princess, a legit princess cos I can only get a good shut eye sleeping atop the mountains of pillows on the bed. I am not afraid to share my very personal opinion about things, although you’ll probably just hear ‘bork Bork Bork bork’. They say I am a cute little chilli padi – probably they were talking bout my granny who’s the jalapeno! –
The last, the youngest, most rascal, most monyet, most… – ok there’s that Cendol Wong. No! She.Is.Not.A.Cat! She’s not ok! She’s a proud 0.5 mini schnauzer just like us, I mean we’re full mini schnauzer and she’s a half. Cos she’s half the size. We were having a nice walk at a small park when she came running to us. That was back in 2019. I guess she wanted to join the Wong clan. She loves to play with mummy TehC and her favourite kor-kor, Ocha watches her like a hawk! Well she’s got size in her camp, I can’t do much about it.
Now you need to know that there are pre-requisites to be a Wong. First, you need to be able to always pose for photos, day and night, weekends weekdays public holidays all without pay. Yes, free labour! – Anywhere you know that we can go to get our case heard? – But most the important one is you need to love durian. Omg! I mean like who doesn’t right?! Like why wouldn’t you?! If you can beat the time of running from upstairs bedroom to the kitchen in less than 5 secs, all to the container opening sound then you’re in!
We love to go on adventures and explore the world with our furfriends! Been on trips to Penang, Melaka, Bentong, Cherating, Ipoh to name a few or simply explore unknown parts of town and the occasional day trips out of KL. It’s always fun cos we get to play, run havoc and have nice, yummy dinners. Every now and then, we get special meals made specially for us, lamb chops, pork stew, meatball noodles, chicken karaage, African peanut stew etc.
Our granny has taught us quite a few neat stuffs too! And so, we have competed in some of the dogsports by MKA, e.g. obedience, rally-o – basics only cos she can drive but can’t read signs, go figure – and dances with dogs. You can watch some of Cider’s tricks and dances in our igtv @wong_kopitiam. Man, can he shake his bon bon with some killer moves!
What are we afraid of? Wanna guess?? Our tiger granny! Like don’t mess with her! You might see smoke coming out of her ears! Oh! We’ve recently got a new cousin too, her name is Nestum. Gran took her in from the road when she wasn’t feeling well. Now she’s home with us.
